Until now, the e-SIM has been seen purely as an experimental, ground-breaking technological concept.

Things Mobile, the world’s first Mobile Operator dedicated to the Internet of Things, presents an e-SIM that will revolutionize the IoT world.

The benefits of the new e-SIM by Things Mobile include multi-network connectivity, very low connection costs, no management fees and global coverage.

Consumer and industrial versions of the SIM card are available. It remains fully functional even in extreme conditions and it can withstand temperatures from -40°C to +105°C, high moisture levels and vibrations.

The Things Mobile e-SIM uses multi-network technology to connect with 250 accredited partners in over 165 countries, ensuring maximum coverage and better signal quality than any other operator.

Shanghai (June 28 - July 1, 2017) - Things Mobile is breaking new ground on two fronts in the Internet of Things market. At the 2017 Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, Things Mobile is not only making its debut as the world’s first Mobile Operator dedicated to the Internet of Things, but also carrying out the global unveiling of its e-SIM: a virtual card that has been created for the Internet of Things and can be tangibly, genuinely used with real objects for the first time anywhere in the world.

Until now, the e-SIM has been seen purely as an experimental, ground-breaking technological concept. Visions of possible future scenarios have featured items that are “connected” using vaguely defined e-SIM cards, with no clear specifications.

Things Mobile has put into practice a notion that is still purely “theoretical” for other big global players. The Things Mobile e-SIM is a huge innovation in the Internet of Things, as it is the first real IoT SIM card in the world.

Things Mobile is presenting two versions of the e-SIM: one for consumer devices such as smartwatches, and one for industrial use that is indestructible, remains fully functional even in extreme conditions and can withstand temperatures from -40°C to +105°C, high moisture levels and vibrations.

The inventor of Things Mobile and its revolutionary e-SIM is the 40-year-old businessman Manuel Zanella, who is also the founder and CEO of Zeromobile, the first low cost roaming Mobile Operator (www.zeromobile.it), and the founder and CEO of ChatSim, the SIM card designed to chat free of charge and without limits with WhatsApp and other Instant Messaging Apps (www.chatsim.com).

Zeromobile is the majority shareholder in the Things Mobile project. Its partners are the investment company Angelsim Sarl (which also invested in ChatSim) and Juan de la Coba, ChatSim co-founder.

“With the e-SIM system by Things Mobile,” explained Manuel Zanella, “the tasks for which old-fashioned SIM cards are usually responsible are performed by a chip that is embedded directly in smartwatches, trackers and numerous other smart devices. It is capable of doing everything that a traditional SIM card can, while also offering outstanding innovation and significant benefits. The Things Mobile e-SIM uses multi-network technology to connect with 250 accredited partners in over 165 countries, ensuring maximum coverage and better signal quality than traditional operators. Our goal today,” concluded Zanella, “is to connect millions of IoT devices around the world thanks to Things Mobile, with an unprecedented permanent roaming rate!” The rate and the technical features of the SIM card make Things Mobile the most affordable, competitive and reliable IoT operator on the global market.

Things Mobile is a step ahead of the times: according to new research by IHS Markit, from 2019 e-SIM systems will be in increasingly widespread use among smartphone manufacturers. The IHS study predicts that there will be nearly one billion devices with embedded e-SIM systems by 2021. While the technology has in some respects been “snubbed” (at least so far) by the majority of mobile device manufacturers, it will reach new heights in the next five years. By 2021, there are expected to be more than 980 million e-SIMs in use, although it is thought that there will still be 5.1 billion devices that utilize removable SIM cards.

Things Mobile is the new global IoT solution that ensures a wireless connection around the world without initial costs or fixed costs. It works with multi-network connectivity by connecting automatically to the operator with the best available signal. This innovative SIM card for IoT devices supports customers on all networks: 2G, 3G and 4G LTE.

A single rate plan. Simple, user-friendly and easy to manage.
